Workshop Your Workshop

  • EBTC 251 Lafayette Circle, Suite 330 Lafayette, CA, 94549 United States (map)

Lets get that workshop idea to fruition!

RSVP: EastBayTherapistCommunity@gmail.com

This offering is for any therapist who has an interest in running a workshop, whether directed towards the public or for peers. Although I'll be referring to "workshops" throughout, those wanting to create a presentation are also welcome.

On top of being a way to get your name out there and generate additional revenue, workshops are an opportunity to build community and consolidate and deepen your own knowledge. They're a way to quickly share important ideas about a specialty topic. Believe it or not, they can also be fun, even if you don't identify as the type of person to present.

Whether shifting from contemplation to planning or from planning to action, we can run into all kinds of internal and external challenges when designing a workshop.

These can include:

  • Defining the workshop and its goal

  • Gauging whether it's worth doing

  • Structuring the content

  • Hashing out the logistics of running it on the day of

  • Confidence (in yourself, in your expertise, in the value of your topic...)

  • Marketing effectively

Workshop Your Workshop will be an opportunity to collaboratively address these challenges. Since we'll be benefiting from one another's input, all levels of experience with running workshops are welcome!

Structure:

  • Brief introduction to your practice, your workshop and your roadblock

  • Review of some basic ideas related to creating a workshop

  • Group discussion of roadblocks

Light snacks and refreshments will be served.

Presenter bio: Felix Moreau is an LMFT (#141746) working in private practice with offices in Walnut Creek and Oakland. He works with individuals, couples and families. His specialty modalities include EMDR, CBT, DBT and PACT. In previous professional lives, he has both run workshops and helped others develop theirs. Currently he's working on a presentation about ADHD. Once he gets that done, a couple of workshops are chomping at the bit for their chance to go public.
